30-Second Radio Spot
Thanks to the contributions and efforts of many of our member credit
unions,
MDDCCUA has launched a new cooperative
advertising campaign - What’s
in It for Me –
with the unveiling of a radio campaign and an interactive web site.
The campaign will promote the credit union difference primarily to
18-34 year olds living and working in Baltimore, Washington, D.C.
and Western MD.
The
web site -
WhatsInItForMe.org - takes a fresh approach to educating
potential members about the credit union difference. Users will be
able to view member testimonials in “What Our Members Say;” access
information from outside the credit union industry in “What Others
Say;” and navigate a link populated with criteria for finding a
credit union in the area that best matches the consumer’s needs.
More than 600
radio commercials will be broadcast over an eight-week period
through November 11 to
drive traffic to WhatsInItForMe.org.
To guarantee that credit unions
throughout region will benefit from the campaign, ads will be
broadcast on the following radio stations:
WWMX, WERQ, WPOC, WLIF, WSMJ, WMZQ, WASH, WWDC, WMMJ, WFRB and WKGO.
The stations were selected by
media consultant Target Media because of their optimum frequency and
reach throughout Maryland and the District of Columbia. A 30-second
radio ad is attached.
Web site traffic
will be monitored and measured for six months based on Google and
Yahoo keyword searches to track results.
This aggressive
media plan is the result of a year-long effort by the Co-Op
Advertising Committee of MDDCCUA. Nearly 70 credit unions
contributed to the Co-Op campaign in 2007 that serves as
the first phase of a continuing three-year plan to build consumer
awareness throughout the region.
The plan was developed after
extensive research indicated the development of a long-term branding
campaign is more effective than once-a-year efforts.
Committee members
include credit union professionals: Theresa Berezansky,
Transportation FCU; Stuart Clode, APG FCU; Mike Dilworth, Freedom
FCU; Vicki Samuels, Educational Systems FCU; Dorothea Stierhoff,
MECU; Peggy Young, SECU; as well as Paul Rosenberger and Maureen
McAtee of MDDCCUA.
Remember to complete your CU Profile
on the Cooperative Advertising web site!
MDDCCUA is a
partner for this search engine which must be updated in order for
the Cooperative Advertising Campaign to be effective and meaningful
to all credit unions in Maryland and DC. The campaign will use a
web site, whatsinitforme.org, with visitors driven by radio
spots designed to focus on the
Credit Union Difference. The plan is to drive
potential members to your credit union.
As a MDDCCUA
affiliate, you can promote yourself to potential members by going to
the web site’s administrative page and
completing a profile of your credit union.
It is very easy to do and takes very little time!
If you do not do this, you will get no benefit from the upcoming
campaign, whether you contributed or not.
As you
take ownership of your own web listing,
you can update your CU profile as often as you like. Because you
know your institution better than anyone else, the
MDDCCUA will depend on you to maintain
your listing.
The
Cooperative Advertising Campaign will
continue throughout 2007 and beyond with advertising
that refers consumers to WhatsInItForMe.org, MDDCCUA’s
informational page about joining a credit union.
WhatsInItForMe.org links to HowToJoinACU.org where
consumers can begin their search
Look for upcoming
information about the long-term commitments needed to extend a
successful Cooperative Advertising Campaign and bring a consistent
message to regional consumers.
As always,
your commitment is appreciated.
