In 2007, the membership of MDDCCUA approved bylaws that provide the ability for the Association to conduct its election for the Board of Directors electronically.  This year the MDDCCUA election will be conducted online using a secure, third party balloting system provided by VoteNet Solutions.  VoteNet Solutions will also be acting as Tellers of Election. 

 

On April, 28, 2008, a letter will be mailed to all member credit union CEOs and Chairmen providing complete voting instructions including the usernames and passwords needed to vote.  The 2008 MDDCCUA Board of Director’s election will begin on April 30, 2008.  All votes must be received no later than June 7, 2008.  Election results will be announced at the MDDCCUA 3rd Annual Meeting to be held June 14, 2008 at 10:00 am at the Clarion Fountainebleau Hotel in Ocean City, Maryland.

Miguel Boluda Jr., Incumbent

PAHO-WHO Federal Credit Union

 

Miguel Boluda, Jr., has been the CEO of PAHO/WHO Federal Credit Union located in Washington D.C. since May 2003.  Prior to that time, Mr. Boluda served as Vice President of Administration for Justice Federal Credit Union.  He held various staff and management positions at Justice Federal from 1982 to 2003.  Mr. Boluda served as a Director of the D.C. Credit Union League and Credit Union Services from March 2005 until the merger with the MD Credit Union League in December 2005.  During his service on the Board of the DC Credit Union League he served as Chairperson of the Resolutions Committee and member of the Audit Committee.  Mr. Boluda also served as the Co-Chair of the Services Committee during the merger transition.  Mr. Boluda has been a member of the MD & DC Credit Union Association (MDDCCUA) Board of Directors since January 2006.  He currently serves as the Secretary of the MDDCCUA Board and Chairperson of the International Committee.  Mr. Boluda has also held the Chairperson and Treasurer positions while serving on the Board of Directors of the Metropolitan Medical Clinic Condominium Owners Association.  Mr. Boluda serves his community as a volunteer coach with the Prince Georges County Special Olympics Bowling Program and previously as a Tour Choir Proctor with the Maryland State Boychoir.  Mr. Boluda received his B.S. in Business from the University of Maryland, College Park.

 

 


 

Chris Conway, Incumbent

Educational Systems Federal Credit Union

 

Chris is the President/CEO of Educational Systems FCU ($248 million) where he has worked for 9 years. He previously worked for over 9 years at MCT FCU in various managerial and executive capacities.  Chris is a lifelong resident of Maryland and has a BS degree in Business Administration from Frostburg State University.

 

Chris Conway has served on the Maryland & D.C. Credit Union Association’s (MDDCCUA) Board of Directors since 2004.  He also serves as the Vice Chair of Credit Union Services Inc. (CUSI) a credit union services organization owned by the MDDCCUA.  Over the years, Chris has also volunteered his time to serve the Suburban Chapter of the MDDCCUA where he has been a director and a Chapter President.  Chris is active in other credit union community associations and credit union business enterprises.  He is a director of the Credit Union Auto Loan Network (CUALN), a member of the Metropolitan Area Credit Union Managers Association (MACUMA), a participant with the Education Credit Union Council (ECUC), and has participated in the Cherry Blossom 10 Mile Run.

 

 


Charles Mallon, Incumbent

Congressional Federal Credit Union

 

 Charles A. Mallon, Jr., President and CEO of Wright Patman Congressional Federal Credit Union, was elected to the board of the MD & DC Credit Union Association following the merger of the MD and DC Leagues and is the chairman of Associations service organization; Credit Union Services Inc. 

 

Prior to becoming the President and CEO of Congressional, his more than 17 years of credit union experience included branch banking, consumer lending, corporate finance and information technology.

 

During his credit union career, Charlie has served on the Credit Union Mortgage Association Board, UniTrust Financial Services Board, ENCORE Electronic Services Cooperative, Inc. Board, and is a member of the CO-OP Shared Branch Advisory Council.

 

Charlie attended the University of Maryland and received his MBA from George Mason University.  His credit union continuing education is highlighted by his designation as a Certified Credit Union Executive.

 

 


Joe Sparacino

Montgomery County Employees Federal Credit Union

Joe Sparacino has a BS degree from the University of Maryland in Business/Accounting.  He served over thirty-two years in various accounting positions for Montgomery County Government prior to his retirement in 2006 and currently is a licensed Maryland Realtor.

He has been a credit union volunteer since 1973 and has served on the Board of Montgomery County Employees Federal Credit Union in Rockville since 1976 and as its Chairman since 1986.  He is a member of the Maryland & DC Chairman’s Forum, the Credit Union Executives Society (CUES) and actively participates in various credit union training conferences such as the Volunteer Leadership Conference, Chairman/CEO Conference and the annual MDDCCUA conferences.

To me, “credit unions represent all that is good in the financial world; they are a way of life for me and my family and our members”.

 

 

 

 


 

Rod Staatz, Incumbent

SECU of Maryland, Inc.

 

 

Rod has been President and CEO of SECU Credit Union for almost 5 years, but his financial services roots run deep.  With over 30 years of financial experience, Rod has held various executive banking positions in Colorado, Washington State and California.  Before joining SECU in 2003, Rod had seven years of executive experience in credit unions. 

 

Working in both the banking and credit union worlds has given Rod a unique appreciation for what credit unions provide that for-profit financial institutions can’t.  He is passionately dedicated to the credit union philosophy and takes every opportunity to actively participate in community events that directly affect SECU members.  Rod also sits on the Boards of CSCU (Card Services for Credit Unions), CUALN (Credit Union Auto Lending Network), CUBC (Credit Union Business Capital), OTS (Open Technology Solutions), the Maryland & DC Credit Union Association and is Vice-Chair of the CUNA Growth Task Force.
